Pubblicata il 02 Aug 2019
From 10 August to 15 September 2019 in Castiglione di Garfagnana it will be possible to admire 18 sculptures, in different marbles, created during the seven editions of the workshop Digital Stone Project
In collaboration with the Municipality of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana and Walter Tognocchi, curator of OXO Collecion - The Gallery of Barga, we will install the works in an exhibition that will develop within the historic center of the medieval village with the intention of telling the story of the “Pietre Splendenti”, as the Ligurians-Apuans who also populated the Garfagnana called “Montagne Splendenti” the limestone reliefs that reflected more the light of the sun and the moon. On the other hand, the Greek origin of the term marble is màrmaron or màrmaros which means shining stone.
Among the selected works, among 13 different artists, the two works by John Isherwood, internationally renowned sculptor and president of the “Digital Stone Project” Foundation, From gifting angel and Omaggio a Monet.
An exhibition that combines beauty and innovation, in a network of international artists, local craftsmen and the marble of the Apuan Alps that, for centuries, gives life to the highest forms of art ever made.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on August 10th at 11:00 am and can be visited until September 15th 2019.
The relative publication of the catalog “Le Pietre Splendenti” is also planned, which will be available at the municipal offices and numerous commercial activities, as well as a program of guided tours.
