Digital Stone Project VIII
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, that basically disrupted our plans and traditional appointments, this year we are really proud to announce that we will held the “Digital Stone Project” Workshop, an event born from the partnership between Garfagnana Innovazione S.r.l. and Digital Stone Project, a not-for-profit organization born in 2005 by a group of artists and university professors, that aims to spread the use of digital technology to create innovative three-dimensional artworks.
There will be many news after two years of forced stop of the event due to the Covid-19 emergency, in the wake of the previous editions, as this event has become a point of reference in the sculpture art field, and in its applications connected to the cutting-edge technologies.
This year the one-month long workshop will reach its eight edition, and will be opened on Sunday May 29th.
Students and professors from the most important universities in the world, as well as world-renowned artists of the sculptural sector will realize their digital works at our premises in Gramolazzo, thanks to the robots programmed by the Garfagnana Innovazione technical team, who can rely on more than ten years of experience in this field. The robot used at Garfagnana Innovazione allow to reach an incredible high level of quality and precision for stone milling. They can work on very big pieces, too: as an example, in our new production facility in Pietrasanta, our technical team developed a series of machines that can work on pieces up to five and a half meters high and 25 ton of weight, in a unique piece. So, during the workshop, each artist will realize a marble sculpture, that in a first step will be milled by a 7-axis robot, then it will be finished using manual techniques.
At the end of the workshop there will be an exhibition in Pietrasanta, with all the sculptures that have been realized during the residency. The exhibition will open Saturday June 25th.
Art and Sculpture connected to the most recent technologies and digital tools, to create innovative stone artworks. Technology and art, research and innovation, the highest creativity expression levels through the use of 3D technology.
